Antique Celluloid Alligator Letter Opener advertising THE HUB opened in 1887 in Chicago by Henry C. Lytton. The Hub specialized in mass produced Menswear, rare at the time. Henry retired in 1917 but returned in 1933 after his son’s death. he opened a store at The Century Of Progress at the 1934 World’s Fair. While I have been unable to verify an exact date of this item, because his name appears on the item I assume it was either prior to his retirement in 1917 or was possibly a souvenir at the 1934 World’s Fair advertising the business. it is in excellent condition for the age, no cracks or chips. 10” length. made in Germany.
